Why spend YOUR time writing articles?
The main reason marketers write articles is to earn from them. To do this your articles need to be good quality and helpful to the readers.
Articles are used to generate free traffic to your website where you are selling something. Or to an affiliate site that you are promoting. They are also used to provide content for a basic adsense site and by combining several articles together you can quickly create your own ebooks to give away or sell. You can even sell resell rights to these ebooks.
With ebooks people want fast facts and information they do not want a load of fluff which is just used to pad out the information. Your goal is to provide easy to understand information. You should be brief and to the point in your articles for the Internet.
If for example you are in the Golf niche you can find a good item on Clickbank, do a search for Golf Forums and see what questions are being asked. Write your articles in response to these questions and post your affiliate link in the resource box for that product.
You can also look on the likes of Ezine Articles for articles on your subject and use the information in those articles to help you write your own.
It is critically important you do not copy the wording in another article as this is illegal. What you can do is use the theme as a guide to writing the same information in your own words. The wording is copyright but the idea is not.
Groups.google.com is another place where you can find a list of frequently asked questions about your niche and is another source of information you should use. DO NOT state the very obvious. E.g. if you are telling someone about golf don’t tell them to go out and look for a golf course. It is obvious if they want to play golf they have to find a course first.
Your Article Title is very important as this is the first thing people will see when they come to your article. I would say it is probably the most important part of your article. If the title is poor then people will not be inclined to read your article.
You need to have a title that stands out from the crowd.
5 Tips For Great Article Writing is better than Article Writing Made Easy.
I consider both to be good headlines but the first one will attract more readers than the second one, and that is what you want as many readers as you can get.
Before publishing your article you must edit it. You do this to correct any spelling mistakes or gramatical errors in the article. It is also important to proof read the article to ensure it makes sense. Proof reading your own work is difficult as you know what you meant to say and can easily skip over some errors. If possible get someone else to proof read for you as they will pick up errors you miss.
Your comments are always welcome and as long as they are passed by Akismet will be published.

Hi Richard
You already know how much I love article marketing, it is free, it’s easy and you get targeted traffic rather than casual traffic.
Attention grabbing headlines and bio box and good quality content is all it takes.
Dee
Hi Dee
Targeted Traffic is much better than casual traffic as they would be more inclined to buy from you.
The headline is probably the most important part of the article as it is the first thing people see. You could have the best content available on the topic but if your headline doesn’t attract the readers it is wasted.
Richard
Richard, Why does your second article headline example get more response? Is it because of the ‘number’ or something else? And do you try to get keywords relative to your topic in the headline?
Hi Anthony
The first heading “5 Tips For Great Article Writing” will get more readers than the second heading “Article Writing Made Easy” even if the rest of the article is exactly the same in both cases.
Why this is I can only assume the first one is more attractive to the eye of the reader. It gives the impression that you are giving away valuable tips in a stronger manner than the second.
It stands out more as people think they will get more from it.
The headline should contain keywords to draw search engine traffic to the article and they should be relevant to the article itself.
Richard
Hi Richard
Yes there are several directories where you can upload your articles but they have to be unique content.
I don’t think they are as effective as they used to be.
To YOUR success
Sue
Hi Sue
I agree that article writeing is not as effective as it used to be mainly due to the rubbish put out by some people.
A good article can still get you some traffic and as long as your link relates to more good information then you should do OK.
Richard
Hi Richard,
Thanks for those article writing tips.
You definitely have to provide quality content, which includes articles (or posts).
I will often turn to article directories like ezinearticles or PLR pieces just to get me started in my research. Then I add extra info or my own twist to the piece. Of course, I always keep what I think the reader wants to know in mind.
Louise
Hi Louise
No problem there will be more on article writing to follow. Using the directories ot PLR to get you started is good but you must put your own slant into the articles as otherwise you are just copying what others have said.
Richard
Yes, you definitely don’t want to ‘copy’ either one as many are first of all, not quality content, second of all, they often tend to be regurgitating what’s already out there!
Louise
Hi Louise
A lot of PLR as you say is just pure rubbish and needs proper editing before you can use it.
Using PLR as a guide to your own writing is OK and you may still be regurgitating what is already out there but you are putting your own slant on it.
Richard
Thanks for suggesting the forums to post articles. I think providing an answer to their questions would definitely help sell a product related. Also for Groups.google.com, I have been trying to improve my skills on keywords research. I needed these. Thank you.
Hi Mark
In replying to questions on forums it may be best to post only the first part of your article and then refer them to the rest of the article for more information.
This way you will gain their interest and probably get more customers as well.
