Hi to all my readers.
As you will see if you visit my JV Giveaway page I am currently entered as a contributor into Giveaways either starting soon or that have already started. The first giveaway started on Monday 26th September for you to sign up and get your gifts.
If you visit my page you will be able to see the gifts available in most of the giveaways by watching the ticker under each giveaway.
This is an easy way to build up your mailing list as every member who downloads your gift is added to your mailing list.
The promotion emails for all these giveaways talk about you gaining 5,000 – 10,000 signups from the giveaway, this is a considerable exageration as the best I did in the past was 20 – 30 signups.
The person(s) who does best in any giveaway is the host(s) as everyone who becomes a contributor or member goes onto their list.
Next best are those who have a list to start with as they can promote the new giveaway to everyone on their list and get people to sign up for the giveaway. This moves their gift up the gift pages and it may even appear on the first page where more people will see it.
If there are a large number of gifts in the giveaway say 400 and you are on the last page your gift will not be seen by a lot of visitors to the giveaway as they do not look at all the pages.
With only 10 gifts on a page you could be on page 40 and hard to find.
As a paid contributor you have the option to download all gifts without signing up to the individual contributor’s list first. If you have not taken the paid option as a contributor you like all members will have to optin to the list for each gift. Some giveaways downgrade you from contributor to member if you have not signed up any one to the giveaway when it starts, others do not downgrade you.
This places your email onto multiple lists and can mean your inbox gets filled daily from these. Some people mail to you daily whilst others will only mail occasionally.
I personally feel that 1 or 2 emails per week is satisfactory but I have had some people emailing me 3 or 4 times in one day, these emails get deleted and I unsubscribe from their lists very quickly.
I have had people sign up to get their gift and then unsubscribe within 5 or 10 minutes of signing up. I have had others who sign up and then do not confirm their email, some of these have then complained that they did not get the gift they signed up for.
If you are using double optin this will happen so don’t worry about it. Likewise those who unsubscribe probably would not become purchasers of your other products anyway.
It is important you purge your lists on a regular basis as all those who do not confirm or who unsubscribe are still counted as list members and depending on your autoresponder service can move you into a higher price bracket.
E.g. Aweber charges $19.00 per month for up to 500 names so if you have a list of 650 names with 200 unsubscribed or unconfirmed names your effective list size is only 450 but you will be paying for a list of 650 instead of 450.
To enter the giveaways as a contributor you will need the following information:
- The Title for your gift
- A short description of your gift (Maximun of 50 words)
- A long description of your gift (Maximun of 300 words)
- Squeeze page URL
- Direct download URL
- Contact email address
- Any text adverts you want to display if you have upgraded your membership
- Any OTO’s you may wish to have displayed to people signing in to the giveaway.
I suggest you create a word or text file on your computer containing the above information so that you have it handy when entering the giveaways as a contributor.
The best way to build your list and make money from a giveaway is to run your own event. This is easy enough to do but requires some investment to purchase a script for running the giveaway etc.
The most common script used by nearly everyone is the “Ultimate JV Giveaway Script” which is priced at $497. This can be recovered from running 2 giveaways as explained in the FREE Giveaway Masterclass run by Kerry Russell and John Thornhill. If you would like to join this giveaway training CLICK HERE
Kerry and John are currently allowing you to rent their script to run your own giveaway on at a cost of $47. Full details available at the link above.
Your comments are always welcome and as long as they are passed by Akismet will be published.

Hi Richard
I will join giveaways next year, hopefully I will have some products and will be able to upload them.
Some people do get a lot of sign ups, Keith Purkiss for instance. I guess you have to be well known to really benefit.
Will give it a go anyway
Dee
Hi Dee
The advantage of giveaways is that you do not have to be well known to benefit from them. As long as your gift is attractive to members you will get sign ups.
The earlier you start the better it is for your list building.
Richard
Hi Richard
I have joined a few giveaways in my time but I find that most people only want the free products and the moment you send them a paid product, they will unsubscribe.
You may be lucky – I hope so for your sake.
To YOUR success
Sue
Hi Sue
Yes a load of those who sign up to get the gifts in giveaways are only freebie seekers, but if you work with building their KLT (know, like and trust) in you some of them can be turned into paying customers.
I will just keep plugging away and hope for the best.
Richard
Thanks Richard for this informative write-up on JV Gs.
I haven’t tried my hand at these yet, but like Dee will probably test it next year. Clearly, it’s best to join one with less participants, but then that my cost you more…
Also thanks for the handy tip on regularly cleaning your list on Aweber. Could save you a lot of money.
Good luck with your JVs
Louise
Hi Louise
The gieaways with the smaller number of gifts may cost the same or more than the bigger ones to upgrade in.
I have seen upgrade prices from $5 to $27 it just depends on what the giveaway host thinks he or she can get away with.
The price is set when the giveaway is being set up and at that time there are no gifts apart from the hosts own.
Likewise the host decides how many gifts, text ads or special offers the contributors can enter into the giveaway.
In some giveaways you mat get 6 gifts whereas in others you get 3 and in them all if you don’t upgrade you only get 1.
You cold have one giveaway with upwards of 100 gifts from only 30 contributors and another with the same number of gifts from 70 or more contributors.
