		<description>Hi Pauline

If you take the posts in order from No 1 which you can find here http://www.richardmoloneyblog.com/why-you-should-write-your-own-ebooks-part-1/ you may find them easier to follow.

If you like what your read tell your friends and colleagues to come and have a look.

Richard

P.S. If anyone reading this blog would like to suggest a topic for another series of posts just tell me in your comments.</description>

		<description>Hi Richard

I have just discovered your blog and read this post so I need to look through your archives and read the other 12 parts!
I will look forward to your finished product.

One of my goals for 2012 is to create my own products so I am starting work on my first eBook which I will be free and then my next ones I will sell.

Have a great day
Regards

		<description>Hi Robbie

When setting up an offline business you are told to work out your costs and from your calaulations decide what your hourly rate should be. In writing ebooks you spend your time and need to be compensated for that.

I have still a few posts to come to finish the series and will then release the ebooks.

<description>Very good points, and I&#039;m going to bookmark this site so I can refer people to it when they start whining about how everything digital should be free.
Yes, you&#039;re quite right about those computer magazines (and newspapers) charging for their pubications, even online. And rightfully so.

Good job. Looking forward the ebook you will create from this series!

		<description>Hi Dee

There are some people who want everything for nothing and if there is a price attached they will not pay for it. Some will purchase and within 5 - 10 minutes or less ask for a refund. These people I would manually remove from my list as they are just a waste of space.

Others will pay whatever you ask for a solution to the problem they are currently facing and be quite happy doing so.

		<description>Hi Richard
People are always prepared to pay for solutions to problems, the more desperate they are, the more they will pay.
Even free reports cost the author time and money.

		<description>Hi Robbie

Some people expect to get everything for nothing. The author has spent time in researching the information, putting it all together and actually writing it all down. They then have paid for the graphics for the cover, the domain and the hosting. They may even have outsouced the compiling which has also cost them some $ to do so.

Ebooks do not cost to distribute or print but people forget about the hidden costs involved and while the costs are a lot less than a print book there are still some involved.

Computer magazines may promote the idea of ebooks being free but they themselves are not given away. Newspapers charge for their online versions and my local weekly paper costs nearly as much for the online version as it does for the printed version.

		<description>Hi Sue

I will actually have 2 PDF&#039;s and 2 Audio products from this series when I am finished recording the audios. I may also convert the audios into videos but I haven&#039;t decided to do that yet. I&#039;m still thinking about it.

<description>Thanks for discussing this, Richard. It&#039;s a concept that a lot of people need to consider. Usually, the ebook idea is oversimplified into regarding it as some simple blob of electrons that doesn&#039;t cost anybody anything. No trees, no ink, doesn&#039;t even take up physical space. I&#039;ve had debates with people about the prices I have on my ebooks. Maybe they just thought they were going to bully me into giving them something for nothing (with a nicer approach I probably would have, though).
But you are absolutely right, it&#039;s about the information, the ideas, the time, etc. Even some computer magazines have promoted the idea that ebooks should all be free. I wonder if those writers would be happy to contribute their articles to an online magazine for no pay? Hard to feed the bulldog that way!
